Specializing in Minimally-Invasive Treatment for Enlarged Prostate
As men age the prostate enlarges and obstructs the flow of urine causing not only slowing of the urinary stream but also frequent and urgent need to urinate. Our urologists are experts in minimally invasive treatments for enlarged prostate. Minimally invasive BPH treatments use state-of-the-art tools and techniques such as the UroLift System and Rezūm therapy to reduce or eliminate the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. These treatments can be performed in office with local anesthesia alone or with I.V. sedation.
Usually, heat is used to destroy excess prostate tissue. Techniques differ in heat source, heat delivery method and side effects. Rezūm therapy uses the natural energy stored in water vapor, or steam, to shrink the enlarged prostate.
The UroLift system reshapes rather than destroying prostate tissue. UroLift offers rapid relief of BPH symptoms by placing tiny implants to hold open the obstructed prostate. With UroLift there is no heating cutting or removing of prostate tissue and there is no risk of sexual dysfunction.
Prostate tissue can also be removed endoscopically in hospital or in our ambulatory surgical center using GreenLight laser therapy of the prostate or using bipolar resection and vaporization of the prostate.
