What Is a Clinical Trial?

What Is A Clinical Trial?

A clinical trial is a medical study with participants like you. It is carefully designed to try to answer specific health questions. Clinical trials are generally used to see if investigational medicines work and are safe. Everyone who takes part in clinical trials gets close medical attention related to the study. Clinical trials are not right for everyone but are an option to think about. Taking part in a clinical trial is about personal decision. It should be made only after talking to your doctor.

Why Should I Participate In A Clinical Trial?

People who take part in clinical trials are making a valuable contribution to medical research. Everyone who takes part in the study gets close medical supervision related to the study. All medical tests and procedures related to the study are done at no cost to you.

Who Sets The Standards For Clinical Trials?

The Regulatory Agencies and Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) or Ethic Committees (Ecs) carefully review all clinical trials. The regulatory agencies make rules that companies must follow in clinical trials. IRBs/Ecs are independent groups. They review clinical trials and look after the protection of participants.
